Traditional New York Cheesecake Recipes
Traditional New York cheesecake recipes are made with good, simple ingredients. This distinctively tall concoction is known world wide. The silky style of cream cheese we know today was first developed in the New York area. It was incorporated into baking and introduced at the turn of the century by Jewish delicatessens in New York City. The beginning of this popular dessert dates back to the early 1920’s and is attributed to a delicatessen owner, Arnold Reuben, who opened a restaurant at that time. Soon Reuben had rivals, among them Junior’s and Lindy's. Each restaurant has its own version and claim to fame. There are hundreds of versions to make this New York favorite, but the best is without a doubt one of these classics.
